Assessment Manual Employee Honesty Assessment

Will your Candidates Answer Questions Honestly Even if it May Reflect on them Poorly?

Employee Honesty Assessment

Definition

The willingness to bravely answer the assessment questions honestly even though the applicant may think the answers may put the person in poor light.

This trait helps to tell if the person answered the assessment questionnaire honestly enough for the results to be reliable. Regardless of how low this trait is, the personality type will still be accurate as the person has enhanced their answers on each quadrant.

What the Trait is NOT

The trait does not directly measure a person’s trustworthiness or tendency toward theft. The trait by itself does not measure how accurately the assessment taker understands his or her true strengths and weaknesses.

Low Range

Extreme Low Range

0 to 7. This shows the person has difficulty being truthful with others and possibly with themselves. If the person scores in this range on this trait and the trait on Personal Honesty (WIMBUSH-SL only), it can indicate the competency predictions are reduced to about 70%. The candidate could be exaggerating to you, in denial or both. The assessment results (the read out we send you) will automatically indicate the lower prediction percentages.

Poor Range

Low Range

8 to 21. Scores in this zone will always indicate the person’s inability to be truthful with themselves and/or with others. The ability of the assessment to predict is reduced to about 77%.

If you do hire people who scored below 22 on this trait and are in denial of denial, it will be difficult to promote them, because of their unwillingness to learn from their own mistakes.

Redoing the test again has not proven to be useful and we have so little experience with redone assessments we can only guess at their accuracy.

Borderline Range

Medium Range

22 to 60. Above 22 is normal for most job candidates and above 50 is normal for most people filling in the questionnaires for personal reasons. The range shows a degree of dishonesty that unfortunately is accepted by society.

Ok Range

High Range

61 to 90. Also, if the personal honesty trait is above 72 then the person is likely to be quite hard on him or herself. Because people like this tend to be hard on themselves when answering the questionnaire, the assessment marker automatically makes the results more positive to adjust for this. If this person is applying for a job, it indicates a high level of truthfulness.

Good Range

Extreme High Range

91 to 100. This shows a high level of honesty toward self and others if the Dishonesty trait is below 3. A 100 on this trait is not that uncommon. Also, if the Personal Honesty trait (Wimbush SL only) is above 72 then these people are likely to be quite hard on themselves. Because people like this tend to be hard on themselves when answering the questionnaires, the assessment marker automatically makes the results more positive to adjust for this. Scores in this range don’t seem to indicate that the integrity and attitude results are any better or worse. But because we need to make bigger positive adjustments the prediction percentages are not as good as those who score between 22 and 72.

Note:

When this trait is below 23 the prediction is usually only 77% accurate and there is often times a wide spread between the markers. 65% of these candidates who are hired turn out to be successful but few are ever hired because employers are uncertain of the results. Never hire these people without doing further interviewing and other checking and rely less on the assessment results.

When either Personal Honesty or Assessment Honesty are below 20, especially if one is below 10 by itself, the person who filled in the questionnaire either exaggerated about how good they are or are extremely moral upstanding people (so rare you can almost forget about that possibility). This person is likely to answer many assessment questions similar to “Have you ever stolen anything in your life?” with Nos. By getting a low score on this trait the person has already failed an honesty test in some way. They are either dishonest with themselves or others.

A score below 7 on both Personal and Assessment Honesty is a strong sign of dishonesty to others as well. See Dishonesty.

A score below 11 on both Personal and Assessment honesty is a sign of dishonesty to others as well. See Dishonesty.

A score above 15 and below 20 on Personal and Assessment Honesty is a borderline dishonesty to others as well. It wouldn’t be a waste of time to check Dishonesty.

A score between 21 and 60 on Personal and Assessment Honesty is usually not a concern by itself.

A score above 61 on Personal and Assessment Honesty is usually not a concern by itself.
